Water under the bridge now.
The opening Premier League match was clearly very important to Bilic and as a priority he wanted to approach it with the best preparation.
His plan was to win the first leg against Astra with sufficient margin where a second string could see out the return leg. When this didn't happen he stuck with his plan. Disappointing but c'est la vie.

I'd say the opposite. We were too calculating and professional and not emotional enough about the decision.
We clearly looked at the contests were were in and decided, when set against the chances of success, that the risks and costs were not worth the price paid to progress in Europe.
We can take the argument about trying as hard as you can in every game, but the fact is we couldn't play an additional 21 games and expect not to pay the price somewhere.
It's the emotional side that says we should have sent a stranger side including first teasers,

All this bollocks about not deserving it is a load of old cunt. We had an opportunity, we pissed it up the wall. Its called professionalism I believe, we showed none.
If we qualified via a loss in the cup final would we deserve it? Or would we be to embarrassed to approach the game in the proper manner?
Great as today's result was it has no bearing on the shabby way we approached those European ties. i dont really care if any cunt agrees or not either.

Amazing win today and the managers part in it was huge.
That said, I still think we could have used some players that did not make the bench today on Thursday,
Unless they are injured of course.

I just find it weird that our fans could turn THAT quickly on a situation that was very difficult, given what this season is about. Whether we like it or not, the game is money driven now, and we need to stay up this year more than most, because the first season in the OS being in the Championship would be an absolute disaster. Obviously adding potentially an extra 20 games to the season might not have had a bad effect, but with it also being Bilic's first season with us, it's not that difficult to understand why he was so cautious. In fact, it's the easiest thing to understand in the world.
As I said before, he went all out in the first leg, it just went wrong with Ginge getting sent off. It happens, we move on and get behind him.

Must admit I did vent my disgust at the Europa League thing - and to be honest I still do.
However, top marks to Bilic today.
Picked a 16 yr old which could very easily have made himself look like a luaghing stock if it had gone wrong.
But fair play - PLUS he has obviously instilled some positivity into the side that never existed under BFS.
Zarate being a prime example.
Just goes to show how BFS held us back for the last 2 years.
What I do find strange is waht will be the attitude if we qualify for Europe next season - chuck it again?

In a way, Bilic was vindicated and, yeah I'll hold my hands up, the gamble paid off and today was superb.
However, like others have said, I still maintain you should try and win every match you play and take cups seriously.
Anyway, a bit of overreaction from some, possibly myself included, in the week re Bilic but lets hope for more of the same from today's game. Top, top effort from the players, the manager and the staff COYI.
